You better not see Hatchet 3 (2013) (by Decker Shado)

Hatchet 3 is the Hatchet's horror film from 2013. It follows the ongoing adventures of Victor Crowley's adventures in Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp, as well as his brutal murderous rampage. Kane Hodder plays Victor Crowley, Brian Quinn portrays Deputy Winslow, Rileah vanderbilt portrays Misty.

The film's main strength lies in its use of practical special effects. Hatchet 3 uses a majority of practical makeup effects and sets. This is a departure from the majority of horror films nowadays that heavily rely on CG effects. The film also has several truly terrifying moments.

The cast is solid, with Kane Hodder proving to be an intimidating villain. It's like an '80s slasher movie, with the dialogue being a bit too tongue-in-cheek and campy. There are also certain moments of genuine comedy throughout, which provide a comical Hatchet 3 movie contrast to the heart-wrenching action.

However because of the small budget (reportedly only $1 million) many locations used are re-used from earlier films in the series. The identical boat house was featured twice in the film and much of it feels like it's been recycled from other films in this franchise. Hatchet or Hatchet2 may feel it's a familiar film.

Overall, Hatchet 3 was very enjoyable. I found it to be remarkably like other films in this series. However, Hatchet 3 provided lots of gory thrills and entertaining performances by its cast.
